Pop sensation and actress Selena Gómez may help Sundance film screenings close with a bang. She stars in “The Fundamentals of Caring,” a comedic drama about a emotionally-devastated, novice caregiver and his first young client afflicted by muscular dystrophy, both of whom hit the road to find adventure and meet the beautiful Dot, played by Gómez. World premiering at Sundance, “Fundamentals” is the festival’s closing night film. The film is directed by the Emmy Award-winning Rob Burnett, whose main previous credits may be producer, director and writer for the “Late Show with David Letterman” and chief executive officer of Worldwide Pants–which produced the Letterman’s show and is also the production company of Gomez’s latest movie. Burnett also directed the 2012 coming-of-age short feature "We Made this Movie." The film is based on the aclaimed novel by Jonathan Evison, "The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving," winner of various awards including the New York Times Editors Choice and the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award in 2012.

Gomez’s co-stars in the film are: Paul Rudd (“Antman,” “Parks and Recreation), Craig Roberts (“Submarine”, “22”), Jennifer Ehle (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Fifty shades of Grey”), Megan Ferguson (“The Comedians”), Frederick Weller (“In Plain Sight”). RECENT FILMS We last saw Gómez in on the big screen with a cameo in recently premiered and now Oscar-nominated film “The Big Short,” a film about the financial crisis of 2008 whose cast includes Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carell. Right before that we also heard her once again as the voice of Marvis on the 2015 sequel of animated feature “Hotel Transylvania 2.” POP MUSIC PRINCESS

The Texas-born artist, who is of Mexican and Italian descent, has come along way as performer. She started out in PBS’ “Barney and Friends,” went on to Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place” and then turned into a pop princess with hit songs like “Come & Get It” and “The Heart Wants What It Wants.” Gómez has also starred in the mainstream features “Spring Breakers” and “Getaway” and the TV movie “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex.”

Gómez has been rocking the music charts with the Top Ten hits like “Good for You” and "Same Old Love" from her latest studio album “Revival.” –CESAR ARREDONDO
